Variable Speed Drives
Varriable speed drives are used to control motors in various applications. A VFD varies the speed of a motor by varying the frequency. To achieve this the VFD varies the stator field and rotates its angle.
A variable frequency drive has the control motor acceleration and deceleration during starting or stopping, respectively.
The synchronous speed of a motor is directly proportional to the ac power frequency as per the equation below.
A VFD modulates the frequency to match the synchronous speed with the load requirement of the electric motor.
Applications.
- Heating Ventilation And Air Conditioning
- Varriable Air Volume Systems (VAV)
- Fan Control
- Pump Control
- Water Pumping applications
